Oh, boo hoo! Sorry, I've got yard envy so I just wish I had a yard for anybody's leaves to fall in. You can do what everyone here does, hire someone to park their rusty truck in front of the house and suck up the leaves with an industrial-strength annoyingly loud leaf blower at 8 am, maybe he'll offer to come over and quietly rake.

If you've reached old age, I'm in my dotage! I know what you mean about the whole "too busy to think". And then someone comes along and dumps a new task in your lap, no?

Ha! I'm in fear of the day that DB comes out with something. At least the Dude waited until he was a teen to do it... I'm afraid it's gonna happen in first or second grade! It'd probably be more along the lines of "That sucks," though, since I tell him that a lot when I'm sympathizing. Still oughta be interesting to see what they say...

Did I tell you about the time we took Youngest to school and she started singing, at the top of her lungs, "Whiskey, Whiskey, Nancy Whiskey. Whiskey, Whiskey, Nancy-O."

Let me tell you, an autistic nine year old singing about hard liquor really turns heads!

Hey John -- yea he is somewhat high functioning though there are times I see regression as he goes through his teen years. He likes hugs for a brief minute but is done quickly. But he does feel apologetic when he does things wrong. His sense of right from wrong is good. I think Dude knows on some level he is different, but I don't know if he case much.

Quite a story. Few years ago my wife took care of an autistic teen. He too couldn't tie his shoes. Dude reminded me somewhat of him; though I think Dude is somewhat higher functioning. Apologized and gave his sister a hug; that is a good sign; sometimes those challenged can handle touch. I'm okay with hugs, but I need to remember to ask for a hug, not grab for a hug.

Looking at picture I kind of thought I saw me as a youth. Mine is the mild, high functioning kind, Aspergers Syndrome. I knew I was different, didn't always know what the heck it was. I am a musician; may have been missed if I had been a neurotypical.

That is exactly why I tried not to commit for so long. Did you take the call when she called you back? Because I always say I was out of town and just needed a trim.

I act very apologetic. You could always say, I know, I panicked, I didn't realize I needed a trim and I had an event to go to, I'm sorry, yadda yadda.

And if you wait until it grows about a bit you can complain to her about how it didn't grow out as nicely as her cuts always do, which will probably be true since there's a reason you like to go back to the same person most of the time, right?

It'll be OK.

DuckyBoy is soo watching more TV than he should this summer. His school-camp is over right when DH decided to finish our joint project and punt to me. (No coincidence, that timing, but you won't catch me blogging about THAT in an open forum...) At least you have an outside for Dudeto go sit in. DB's choice is the room with the TV or the room with the computer.
